Roll Out Drill
Chipping Proximity to Hole
The closer you can chip it to the hole, the more up and downs you make. No brainer, right? Can you chip it inside 10% of the total distance of the shot?
Equipment Needed
10 Golf Balls.
8 Tees
The Set Up
Shot (A): Find a chip shot with a total distance of approximately 10-yards (30-feet). Ideally, where you chip from (START) will be 2-yards from the edge of the green.
Place eight tees evenly around the hole at a distance of 3-feet (one-putter length) from the cup to create the zone.
Shot (B): Total distance of approximately 15-yards (45-feet). Tees 4-feet from the cup.
Shot (C): Total distance of approximately 20-yards (60-feet). Tees 6-feet from the cup.
Note: Use different starting positions if you are unable to chip towards three different flags.
How to Score
1. Starting by chipping ten balls to hole (A).
2. You score 1-point for each shot that finishes inside the zone and 2-points if you make it in the hole.
3. Record your score for (A) out of ten.
4. Repeat for (B) and (C).
5. ADVANCED RULE: After completing your 30 shots, chip one ball at each hole (A, B, and C). All three shots must finish inside the zone (in a row) to complete.
Be sure to use your pre-shot routine on each putt. Remember, “Practice like you play, Practice like a champion, Play like a champion!”
