5-D Drill

Putting Speed Drill

5-D is a speed drill that challenges you to adapt to a new length putt every time. See if you can complete this for uphill, downhill, and sidehill!

Equipment Needed

5 Golf Balls
10 Tees

The Set Up

1. Find a level or slight uphill putt (25-30 feet long).

2. Place tees (A-E) at 3-yards, 4-yards, 5-yards, 6-yards and 7-yards.

3. Place tees as shown to create the β€œD” around the cup, which is the zone your balls must finish in. Tees are one putter length (3-feet) from the edge of the cup. The zone starts level with the front edge of the cup.

How to Score

1. Start by putting one ball from tee (A) which is 9-feet.

2. If your first putt finishes inside the β€œD”, move to the tee (B).

3. Keep moving back after each successful putt.

4. If your ball finishes outside the β€œD” you must start again from tee (A).

5. If you still have time remaining, try and complete downhill, left to right and right to left.

Be sure to use your pre-shot routine on each putt. Remember, β€œPractice like you play, Practice like a champion, Play like a champion!”
