6-Under Drill
Putting Speed & Accuracy Drill
5-15 feet is such a critical range. Those putts tend to be par-saving putts, bogey-saving putts when you are in trouble, and birdie putts after a good approach!
Equipment Needed
3 Golf Balls
8 Tees
The Set Up
Find a level or slight uphill putt
Place tees (A-C) at 5-feet, 10-feet, and 15-feet
Place tees as shown to create the “D” around the cup, which is the zone your balls must
finish in. Tees are one putter length (3-feet) from the edge of the cup. The zone starts level with the front edge of the cup.
How to Score
1. Start by putting three balls from tee (A).
2. If you make your ball in the hole you score a BIRDIE.
3. If your ball finishes inside the “D” you score a PAR.
4. If your ball finishes outside the “D” you score a BOGEY.
5. Hit another 3 putts from tee (B) and (C).
6. Your goal is to score 6-under for the “9 holes” played.
7. You will be able to complete this several times within the time allocated. Finish each round even when you cannot reach the goal of 6 under.
Be sure to use your pre-shot routine on each putt. Remember, “Practice like you play, Practice like a champion, Play like a champion!”
